UFAS-ADAAG Comparison

This publication is intended to provide a comparison of the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS) and the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG). Direct comparison may be desirable for public entities choosing between UFAS or ADAAG as the design standard for new construction or alterations. Public entities may choose either ADAAG without the elevator exemption (which does not require an elevator in certain buidings under three stories or under 3,000 square feet per floor) or UFAS. Design professionals working with public entities who have chosen UFAS as that standard may need to refer to a comparison.
